This beautiful business started with a lot of love and passion to help people with the inevitable task of choosing the daily meal in a nutritional and healthy way. We offer simple recipes totally plant based and with important nutritional ingredients taking care of part of your healthy diet requirements. We are very happy to bring you this alternative for your day-to-day healthy food choices.

    What inspired you to start your business?

    My Family — I encourage them to eat healthy!

    What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

    The awareness of eating healthy, at least for most of our meals.

    Where are you from/where did you grow up?

    I am from Venezuela. I grew up in Venezuela and am living in Texas now. I am so grateful for everything that this state has given us

We believe our BBQ would be a perfect addition to the market, attracting food lovers and creating a memorable experience for visitors.

    When did you first get started?

    I began cooking as a hobby in college for friends and get togethers.

    What inspired you to start your business?

    People constantly telling that I have a gift and should be selling food. I never considered it until I cooked for a friend and orders started coming in.

    What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

    My favorite thing to make is jerk chicken pasta. It’s the perfect blend of cheese and spices.

    Where are you from/where did you grow up?

    I am originally from Houston, but I grew up in Miami and learned to BBQ there.

    I cook ribs but I really don’t eat pork!

    We have been in business for a year. We specialize in agua frescas. Making single flavors or combinations. All our aguas are fruit based they contain sugar. We have also added fruit cups and raspas to our menu. And the majority of our product is fruit based

    When did you first get started?

    In march of last year

    What inspired you to start your business?

    I have been on a mission of being my own boss. My motivation is my dad and I am kind of following his steps. Just different kinds of business.

    What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

    All of our flavors are unique. But I will say one of our favorite flavors is pineapple-mango agua fresca

    Where are you from/where did you grow up?

    I am originally from Mexico but was raised in Florida and been here in texas since 2015.

    About Starboard Side Cafe

    With 17 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Riley Ludwig has always been passionate about owning his own business. He enjoys connecting with people and believes in the power of a delicious meal to bring people together, regardless of their differences. Cooking has been a lifelong passion, starting from when he was young, and he is inspired to share his culinary creations and family recipes with others.

    He works alongside Molly Ludwig, his wife & business partner since day one.  Molly works part-time, is a mother of twins full-time, and still finds time to support their business on weekends.

    When did you first get started?

    I have been planning for over three years, officially forming the business this year, in January 2024.

    What inspired you to start your business?

    I have always wanted to start my own business. When my daughters were born, I began thinking about the example and legacy I was leaving for them. I realized that nothing was holding me back from pursuing what I have always felt I was meant to do.

    What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

    Anything and everything breakfast!

    Where are you from/where did you grow up?

    I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, graduated from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and visited Galveston Island whenever I could.

    When I’m not spending time with my wife and identical twin daughters, I enjoy playing and writing music, rock climbing, and woodworking in my spare time.
