    The Farm at Bald Hill

Say Hi to Treasure and Justin!

    About Farm at Bald Hill

Nestled in the Piney Woods of East Texas sits The Farm at Bald Hill, a family farm focusing on regenerative agriculture and sustainability with a goal of changing the way people eat.

Justin grew up splitting time between Houston and East Texas. As much as he loved the city life, the country always had his heart. Influenced by family and friends at a young age, he was inspired by the benefits of eating healthy but it wasn’t until a few years ago that he started digging into the root of what that truly means and how to get there. He did a lot of reading and research. And a lot of (mostly healthy) eating. Seeking a major life change, he sold his IT company and decided it was time to move to the country and get his hands dirty.

Treasure grew up in Louisiana with nothing close to a green thumb or a farm upbringing. She’s always cared tremendously about nutrition and the environment so it makes perfect sense that this is the avenue in which her life has taken. She’s currently seeking a masters in sustainability with a focus on agriculture in hopes of helping other farms shift to regenerative practices.

When did you first get started?

    2018!

What inspired you to start your business?

We both wanted a life and career change. A shift to something that would make an impact on both our health, the health of our community and the environment. It’s hard work and we have no idea what a “vacation” is but it’s worth it. Getting to meet so many incredible people on a regular basis who are likeminded when it comes to values around food production and health is the best part of this journey.

What is your favorite thing to make/produce?

    All of it!

Where are you from/where did you grow up?

Treasure grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana and Justin in Houston, Texas

Share a fun fact about yourself you’d like your customers to know!

Treasure has a side hustle as an unofficial king cake reviewer. Justin is the reigning high kick champ among those who have the honor of experiencing.

  • Jolly Farms

    Jolly Farms

Jolly Farms is a family-owned and operated business in Alvin, Tx. We began this business with the idea of raising chickens more naturally to provide a healthier alternative than grocery stores can provide. We believe eating more natural foods reduces the unwanted preservatives and other ingredients that provide our bodies with negative “side effects”. The number of people seeking healthier, more natural food is growing substantially as the health benefits of these foods are proven.

We feed them Coyote Creek feed that is certified organic and non-GM and meets the USDA’s national organic standards.

Organic grains are grown from seeds that have not been genetically modified. They are grown in a healthy, living soil, and have not been treated with chemical herbicides, insecticides, or fertilizers.

We receive our chicks when they are just one day old! We brood them in a temperature-controlled environment for 3-4 weeks until they are ready to be pastured. They spend the next 4 weeks in the pasture and have access to all things natural. For example: fresh air, natural sunlight, dry soil, bugs, and enriched Bermuda grass in the summer and Winter Rye in the winter. They also have access to floorless hoop houses moved to fresh grass daily, for shelter during the day and security at night. They are given vitamins and probiotics to help build a healthy, natural immune system as we do not give our chickens antibiotics.

And when their time comes… we take them to a local state-certified processing facility where a state employee is onsite inspecting the facility and each of our chickens.

They are processed by hand and rinsed with only fresh running water, not a bleach bath like the industry standard. After air chilling, our chickens are vacuum packed with their giblets and natural juices, void of any brine or hormones. Thus making our all-natural meat superior in taste and texture!
