BZ Honey + Thirsty Bee Meadery

Say hi to Matt & Kelly

    About BZ Honey

When they received their first hives, they committed to maintaining them naturally to preserve the purity of BZ Honey. Today, they still honor that commitment to deliver the best possible honey. Their hives have never been treated with any chemicals that could contaminate the honey or weaken the bees. Their honey is strained for clarity without filtering the pollen.

Their success with bees stems from a desire to ensure good bee health. They employ integrated pest management to help the bees combat pests such as small hive beetles and varroa mites without relying on chemicals. They experiment with Langstroth hives and Warre hives to determine which provide healthier bees. They allow the bees to build their own honeycomb without the need for chemical-laden foundation. They rear their own queens from high-performing hives that survive winter and local conditions.

Their hives are situated in suburban areas of Houston to provide local honey from those areas. They sell their honey directly through their website and at farmers’ markets situated near their bee yards. Most importantly, every farmers’ market they sell through is close enough to one of their bee yards that their bees can fly to the market.
