Timeframe: 17 Week Program
Compensation and Benefits: $15/hour. This is an hourly, part-time position, averaging 12 hours per week.
Location: 50% Remote, with 1 day of the week being in person at the GOFM Office (306 Kempner #200, Galveston, Texas 77550) and attending GOFM events as needed. Some travel on the island is required.
Reports to: Director of Operations & Executive Director

Description:

Contribute cooking expertise, artistic talents, technical abilities, people/community outreach skills, or other special strengths to GOFM’s events, programs, food access programs, and other projects
-
Assist with updating the website pages & calendars
-
Create and co-manage social media campaigns (e.g. making social media posts, creating content, etc.)
-
Become an ambassador for GOFM and engage with the community during public-facing events
-
Assist with marketing, signage, pre-event coordination, and day-of-event support for OkraFest, GOFM’s yearly fundraising event
-
Solicit, collect, and organize product donations for the annual auction
-
Support the development, planning, and implementation of projects and volunteer events, educational offerings, and other programming

Provide additional administrative support as needed
Qualifications:

Open to High School Seniors, High School Grads, and Above
-
Passion for addressing food insecurity and strengthening our community’s connection with food
-
Experience using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter

Interest in local foods, education, and nutrition
-
Accountability, reliability, and adaptability

Strong communication skills – must keep Garden Leader up to date

Strong writing skills
-
Access to internet, laptop, and cellular device

Bilingual Spanish speaker a plus

Photography or Design skills a plus

Familiar with Google Suite – using Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc, a plus

Passion for farmers’ markets, local food, and sustainability. Believes in the value of fresh, locally-grown goods and increasing food access for all demographics on the island.

Fluency in Spanish language, written and spoken preferred, but not required
