Compensation and Benefits:  It is an hourly, part-time position, starting at 15 hours per week. Schedule is flexible. $15/hour. 

Location: All GoFM Garden Site Locations

Reports to: Gardens Manager

Description:

• Support GOFM’s garden-based work in elementary schools through Young Gardeners Program & community gardens through Victory Gardens Program through joint maintenance of the gardens

• Support the Garden Leader through general garden maintenance & working closely with a mentor who will oversee daily activities

• Opportunity to shadow GOFM staff & attend staff meetings to learn about the operation of the non-profit organization

• Gain experience in cultivating & maintaining garden beds at all garden sites. 

• Collect data from garden beds & report conditions

• Build and foster community at our gardens – including but not limited to planning and facilitating Community Days

Qualifications:

• Open to High School Seniors, High School Grads, and Above

• Access to the internet, laptop, and cellular device

• Must have reliable transportation

• Interest in gardening, education, nutrition/food

• Accountability, reliability, and adaptability

• Strong communication skills – must keep Garden Leader up to date

• Interest in learning about gardening throughout the seasons

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

• Ability to perform moderately strenuous labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs

• Ability to work independently

• Knowledge of gardening preferred, though not required

• Familiar with Google Suite – using Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc, a plus
