Reports to: Director of Finance
Pay: $20/hour, approximately 13-15 hours per week
Anticipated Internship Time Frame: Position opened until filled with an expected start date of July 8th. Ends December 31, 2024.
FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt
About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dynamic individual to join our team as a Bookkeeping Intern. This position will work closely with the Director of Finance to learn all aspects of accounting for a nonprofit organization and provide key support to the Director of Finance with the day-to-day accounting tasks and projects.
This position is open to current students or recent graduates of high school, college, or a training program looking to start their career in Galveston or Galveston County.
This is not a remote position. The majority of the internship will be spent at the GOFM office (306 Kempner #200, Galveston, Texas 77550) in order to work directly with the Director of Finance.
There may be occasionally training and/or GOFM events where participation will be expected.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with the Director of Finance to learn all aspects of accounting for a non-profit organization. Tasks will include, but not be limited to:

Categorize transactions within Quickbooks Online

Prepare deposits
-
Accounts Payable
-
Accounts Receivable
-
Process payroll
-
Reconcile bank/credit card statements
-
Maintain the donorCRM
-
Prepare, maintain, and track budgets
-
Prepare month end reports for Leadership and the Board of Directors

Prepare interim and final grant reports
-
During the course of the internship, work with the Director of Finance to develop, work on, and present an accounting-related project

Become an ambassador for GOFM and engage with the community at various outreach events throughout internship

Provide additional administrative support as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have experience in working in the accounting field; a degree is not a requirement

Strong interest in working with non-profit organizations

Passion for addressing food insecurity and strengthening our community’s connection with food

Interest in local foods, education, and nutrition

Must have reliable transportation & ways of communication
