  • BZ Honey

    BZ Honey

BZ Honey provides pure local honey to the communities where they keep their bees.

When Kelly and Matt Brantley received their first hives, they committed to maintaining their hives naturally to preserve the purity of BZ Honey. Today, BZ Honey still honors that commitment to deliver the best possible honey. Their hives have never been treated with any chemicals that could contaminate the honey or weaken our bees. Their honey is strained for clarity without filtering the pollen.

Their success with bees comes from a desire to ensure good bee health. They use integrated pest management to help their bees combat pests such as small hive beetles and varroa mites without relying on chemicals. They experiment with Langstroth hives and Warre hives to determine which provide healthier bees. They allow the bees to build their own honeycomb without the need for chemical-laden foundation. They rear their own queens from high-performing hives that survive winter and local conditions.

The hives are situated in suburban areas of Houston to provide local honey from those areas. They sell their honey directly through their website and at farmer’s markets situated near their bee yards. Most importantly, every farmer’s market that they sell through is close enough to one of their bee yards that their bees can fly to the market.

  • Jolly Farms

    Jolly Farms

Jolly Farms is a family-owned and operated business in Alvin, Tx. We began this business with the idea of raising chickens more naturally to provide a healthier alternative than grocery stores can provide. We believe eating more natural foods reduces the unwanted preservatives and other ingredients that provide our bodies with negative “side effects”. The number of people seeking healthier, more natural food is growing substantially as the health benefits of these foods are proven.

We feed them Coyote Creek feed that is certified organic and non-GM and meets the USDA’s national organic standards.

Organic grains are grown from seeds that have not been genetically modified. They are grown in a healthy, living soil, and have not been treated with chemical herbicides, insecticides, or fertilizers.

We receive our chicks when they are just one day old! We brood them in a temperature-controlled environment for 3-4 weeks until they are ready to be pastured. They spend the next 4 weeks in the pasture and have access to all things natural. For example: fresh air, natural sunlight, dry soil, bugs, and enriched Bermuda grass in the summer and Winter Rye in the winter. They also have access to floorless hoop houses moved to fresh grass daily, for shelter during the day and security at night. They are given vitamins and probiotics to help build a healthy, natural immune system as we do not give our chickens antibiotics.

And when their time comes… we take them to a local state-certified processing facility where a state employee is onsite inspecting the facility and each of our chickens.

They are processed by hand and rinsed with only fresh running water, not a bleach bath like the industry standard. After air chilling, our chickens are vacuum packed with their giblets and natural juices, void of any brine or hormones. Thus making our all-natural meat superior in taste and texture!

  • 3rd Coast Kombucha

    3rd Coast Kombucha

3rd Coast Kombucha is your source for real kombucha in its unadulterated and most concentrated form. Through closely developed relationships with local farmers, we source seasonal, organic, and sustainably grown produce for our infusions and use only the highest grade loose leaf teas. To ensure freshness, we hand-bottle every ounce we sell.

To quickly gain an idea of what this yummy drink is, keep reading. Kombucha is typically made by dissolving sugar into non-chlorinated, boiling water and then steeping tea into the water. After the mixture cools, SCOBY or a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast is added. The SCOBY will remain in the mixture until the tea has reached the desired level of fermentation. After you remove your SCOBY, you will be left with kombucha and 3rd Coast Kombucha has mastered this art!

Some of 3rd Coast Kombucha’s best selling flavors include Blueberry and Cayenne Lemon Ginger. A complete listing of flavors can be found on their website, linked below. You can find 3rd Coast Kombucha weekly at GOFM or daily at Old Moon Deli and Pies, located in Galveston, Texas.

  • Local Roast Co.

    Local Roast Co.

Local Roast Co. was started back about 7 years ago by Wayne. They import their coffee beans from all over the world, but some of the favorites come from Africa, Indonesia, and North and South America.

Wayne roasts the beans in small batches, a way he liked to call “primitive batches.” The method makes for the freshest tasting coffee. All coffee is roasted fresh daily/weekly on the island and sold at GOFM weekly.

Wayne welcomes special requests for roast flavors and offers any type of coffee from blonde to full dark roasts. The roaster used was built by Wayne himself using a large, vintage cast iron grill.

Some of Local Roast Co.’s most popular selling items include the Mexican Chiapas, Columbian and Kenyan roasts. Local Roast Co. enjoys being a part of GOFM due to the home town atmosphere.

“Be the bean. The coffee plant is a living thing that offers many benefits and should be treated as a sacred resource like the Ethiopians treat it.” -Wayne
